ERASE CAUTI™ System Embraces New CDC’s Guidelines
Towards the end of 2009, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released new guidelines on the prevention of catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI), their first update in almost 30 years. These new guidelines include new research and technological advancements for preventing CAUTI, put more emphasis on prevention initiatives, and offer better-defined goals and metrics for outcomes and process measures.
We know that these new guidelines and measures have administrators and clinicians re-tooling many of their processes, systems and training related to CAUTI prevention. To help you in this endeavor, we have developed the ERASE CAUTI Foley Catheter Management System. We based this system on the same criteria the CDC used in developing their new guidelines: a targeted systematic review of the best available evidence, with explicit links between the evidence and recommendations.
